Beautiful finish, beautiful day!

I've just awoken, and am beginning to wade through all the many feelings summoned by the events of the last two weeks. Yesterday was strong affirmation that the heart of our project is strong, and means different things to different people. When I first began to envision this, even some of my best friends looked at me with tilted heads, and bemused expressions; what are you doing, why, and how? Like all individuals, our project is unique, and can be appreciated and used to different ends at different times.

We have been receiving such a great welcome in Detroit. The warmth and strength of Detroiters is a beautiful thing to behold, we're so very happy to be here with you. Yesterday we played a nice midday gig at the Scarab Club, raising funds for the Tiny Scarabs. Yesterdays gig was a perfect example of why we conduct our early season fundraisers for ourselves. We played gratis at the Scarab Club, and were pleased to be able to do so thanks to the support of our friends and fans, who make our project go.

Well, we've made it, 350 miles across the state, arriving in Detroit around 5:30 PM yesterday. We were followed by channel 7's Stephen Clark, who interviewed us, taped us playing a tune or two, and put cameras on our bikes as we rolled out of Livonia towards Grand River on 6 mile Rd. The urban ride is fascinating, seeing things at a pace you don't feel in a car, slowly watching the center of the city bloom before your eyes.

We're in the home stretch!

We're in Metro Detroit now, having rolled through Canton, Plymouth, and into Livonia yesterday. We were joined by our friend and supporter, Phillis Engelbert, it was great to have her positive presence in our camp again.

We spent some time with MI Radio's Jennifer Guerra before and during the ride. She caught up with us in a park in Plymouth where we presented ourselves to a dozen or so 16 year olds. This can be a tough audience, lots of bravado and wry wit on display... We broke through with a blazin' boogie woogie, played just inches from them.
